Message of Support for Canterbury-Bankstown Children's Festival 2016

GovernorDavidHurleyHis Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d)
Governor of New South Wales

I convey my best wishes to the organisers of the 18th Children’s Festival at Canterbury-Bankstown on the 29th of October 2016.

Linda and I were delighted to attend the Festival last year at Bankstown, one of our nation's largest and most joyous multicultural festivals. We were particularly impressed with the Festival’s spirit of harmony and unity as people came together to celebrate the richness of their cultural ancestry while also sharing our Australian culture and spirit of community.

This day is a wonderful day for families and I congratulate you on your commitment to building peace and harmony across our diverse and multicultural city.

Best wishes to everyone for a wonderful Children’s Festival!

.

PremierMikeBaird Mike Baird MP
The Premier of New South Wales

I am delighted to send my best wishes to everyone participating in the 2016 Canterbury- Bankstown Children’s Festival.

The Children’s Festival is an example of the unique and vibrant cultural experiences on offer in NSW. The promotion of social harmony and fair play, which underpins the Children’s Festival, encourages children of all backgrounds to come together.

This wonderful opportunity enables children to learn about each other and experience different cultures.

On behalf of the NSW Government, I commend the Children’s Festival Organisation, and wish everyone participating an enjoyable and memorable experience.

LukeFoleyLuke Foley MP
New South Wales Opposition Leader

I am delighted to lend my support to the annual Bankstown Children’s Festival. The Bankstown Children’s Festival continues to be a wonderful celebration of youth and multiculturalism in our state capital.

In its eighteenth year, the festival’s longevity means that many of those who first came to the event as young people are now able to bring their own children along to enjoy the festivities. Mr Thuat Nguyen OAM and his colleagues should be proud of the continuing role the festival plays in promoting harmony and understanding.

New South Wales is the beneficiary of its diverse, youthful and energetic communities – communities just like Bankstown.

On behalf of New South Wales Labor, I extend my best wishes to all attendees as you enjoy the music, food and entertainment of this memorable event.

JohnAjaka2 The Hon. John Ajaka MLC
Minister for Multiculturalism

I am pleased to send my warm greetings to everyone gathering to celebrate the Children’s Festival in Bankstown this year.

This free community event has brought people together from many diverse backgrounds over the years to celebrate our abundance of traditions, cultures, the arts and food.

This is a great platform to share your talents, skills and special gifts. Our diversity and commitment to Australia make us a successful and prosperous state, where each of us is valued for their unique contribution.

As Minister for Multiculturalism, it is a pleasure to see people from diverse backgrounds come together in an atmosphere of harmony, joy and respect.

JasonClareThe Hon. Jason Clare MP
Federal Member of Blaxland

Our local area is one of the most culturally diverse places in Australia. People from 130 different countries, speaking more than 60 different languages, call it home.

It is a place of churches, mosques and temples, where different languages grace our shops and where our homes welcome everyone, no matter where they were born, how they worship or what language they speak.

This is where the new Australia is being forged — a courageous, cosmopolitan, cohesive country, where being Australian is not about where you come from but about where you are going.

That's why I am so pleased to support the Children's Festival. Building a new Australia starts with our children — playing together and living in harmony.

The eighteenth anniversary of the Bankstown Children's Festival is a great achievement and I would like to congratulate Mr Thuat Nguyen and his fantastic team. Together they are helping to build a better local community — a shining light to the rest of the world.

I look forward to sharing this wonderful day with all the children and their families and I encourage everyone in our local community to get involved in what will be a fantastic and fun filled day.

JihadDibMr Jihad Dib MP
State Member for Lakemba

Congratulations to the organisers and volunteers of the 2016 Children’s Festival. It is wonderful to see the Children’s Festival grow into one of the biggest events of the year.

We are a multicultural community, and celebrating that diversity is at the heart of the Children’s Festival. For the last 17 years, the Children’s Festival has celebrated our growing, multicultural community by showcasing performances, traditional foods and arts and crafts.

As a former Principal, I have always believed in giving kids a platform to celebrate and express themselves. Giving kids a space to learn from each other promotes harmony and social cohesion in the long term. When we invest in our kids, we invest in our future and there is no greater example of that than seeing how our community in South Western Sydney has flourished over the years.

Thuat Van Nguyen OAM and the Children’s Festival Organisation have continuously contributed to our vibrant and diverse community through the Children’s Festival, and I thank them on behalf of the Lakemba electorate for all of their dedication and hard work.

I take great pleasure in providing this message of support to the Organising Committee of the 2016 Bankstown Children's Festival.

It has been an event that I enjoy attending every year. It showcases the best resource we have — our children.

It is a festival that once again continues to provide the children of the Bankstown community with a day of fun, laughter and entertainment. A festival that reminds us why, as adults, we should always strive to achieve peace and harmony within and between all cultures so that our children can live in a world that is safe, prosperous and supportive.

I look forward to being in attendance with the thousands people from our local community.

It is a reminder to parents, carers and community members to raise our kids right by teaching them fundamental morals, values and tolerance.

Congratulations to everyone who continues to contribute to this festival and make it the resounding success that it is.
