Message of Support for Canterbury-Bankstown Children's Festival 2017

Premier Gladys Berejiklian Gladys Berejiklian MP
The Premier of New South Wales

It is a pleasure to welcome everyone to the Children's Festival 2017 as we celebrate our cultural diversity under the motto “Play Together and Live in Harmony".

Now in its 19th year, the Children’s Festival is a time to not only celebrate and be proud of your own culture and heritage, but also learn about the rich and diverse cultures from all over the world who call NSW home.

NSW is one of the most multicultural places on earth and it is through events such as this that our connection with our heritage remains so strong. The values of sharing, celebration, education which are what today is all about are the same values we hold as a multicultural NSW. I would like to commend everyone involved in the Children's Festival 2017 for being an important part for their commitment to social harmony and community cohesion.

On behalf of the NSW Government I send my best wishes to everyone attending the Children’s Fair 2017 and hope you have a wonderful, fun filled day.

LukeFoleyLuke Foley MP
New South Wales Opposition Leader

I am proud to lend my support to the annual Children’s Festival. The Children’s Festival continues to be a wonderful celebration of youth and multiculturalism.

In its nineteenth year, the festival’s longevity means that many of those who first came to the event as young people are now able to bring their own children along to enjoy the festivities. Mr Thuat Nguyen OAM and his colleagues should be proud of the continuing role the festival plays in promoting harmony and understanding.

New South Wales is the beneficiary of its diverse, youthful and energetic communities – communities just like Bankstown.

On behalf of New South Wales Labor, I extend my best wishes to all attendees as you enjoy the music, food and entertainment of this memorable event.

Ray WilliamsThe Hon Ray Williams MP
State Member for Castle Hill
Minister for Multiculturalism

I am delighted to congratulate everyone taking part in this year’s 19th Children’s Festival at Bankstown.

The Children’s Festival offers young people the chance to showcase their cultures and languages in a family atmosphere of harmonious celebration.

Congratulations to Mr Thuat Van Nguyen OAM who has successfully broadened the festival’s appeal to attract large audiences who celebrate and embrace our multicultural society.

With nearly half of us being either first or second-generation Australians, and a third of the overseas-born population choosing to live in NSW, the NSW Government recognises the important contributions made across many sectors by migrants.

As Minister for Multiculturalism, my remit is to build and maintain a cohesive and harmonious society, and I would like to thank the Children’s Festival organisation for its valuable work in promoting intercultural understanding.

Tony Burke MP The Hon. Tony Burke MP
Federal Member for Watson

On behalf of the Federal Labor Party, I send my best wishes to the Children's Festival Organisation for the 19th Annual Children's Festival.

Since its establishment in 1999, the Children's Festival has celebrated diversity and social cohesion with a delightful display of various cultural performances, children's parades and activities held annually at Bankstown, Canterbury, Marickvilles and Sydney City.

I am privileged to acknowledge the contributions of the CHildren's Festival Organisation in cultivating a sense of unity and pride in our modern multicultural Australia.

Under the motto "Play Together and Live in Harmony", I wish you a harmonious and prosperous event.

Our local area is one of the most culturally diverse places in Australia. People from 130 different countries, speaking more than 60 different languages, call it home.

It is a place of churches, mosques and temples, where different languages grace our shops and where our homes welcome everyone, no matter where they were born, how they worship or what language they speak.

This is where the new Australia is being forged — a courageous, cosmopolitan, cohesive country, where being Australian is not about where you come from but about where you are going.

That’s why I am so pleased to support the Children’s Festival. Building a new Australia starts with our children — playing together and living in harmony.

The nineteenth anniversary of the Bankstown Children’s Festival is a great achievement and I would like to congratulate Mr Thuat Nguyen and his fantastic team. Together they are helping to build a better local community — a shining light to the rest of the world.

I encourage everyone in our local community to get involved in what will be a fantastic day.

I am delighted to offer my support to the upcoming 2017 Children's Festival to be held on Sunday 17th September at Paul Keating Park.

The Children's Festival is a true Bankstown staple, which has provided the ideal platform for many of our diverse community organisations and local language schools to proudly showcase their respective customs and traditions through various performances, exhibitions and displays.

For many years The Children's Festival has enriched our local and broader community, in particular our children, through promoting inclusion, harmony and diversity.

I pay tribute to the dedication of both the Chairman President Thuat Nguyen OAM and the organising committee, who help to manage this event each year. I further recognise the tireless efforts of the Festival's volunteers who assist in co-ordinating an impressive programme.

Shadow Minister for Education

Congratulations to the organisers and volunteers of the 2017 Children's Festival in the city of Canterbury- Bankstown. It is wonderful to see the Children’s Festival grow into one of the biggest events of the year.

Celebrating our diverse and multicultural community is at the heart of the Children’s Festival. After 19 Festivals, the Children’s Festival is widely known for showcasing performances, traditional foods and arts and crafts of our community. Giving kids a platform to celebrate and express themselves means that they are constantly learning from each other, all the while instilling values of harmony and social cohesion in the long term.
Thuat Van Nguyen OAM and the Children's Festival Organisation have continuously contributed to our vibrant and diverse community through the Children’s Festival, and I thank them on behalf of the Lakemba electorate for all of their dedication and hard work.

I take great pleasure in congratulating and sending my best wishes to the Children’s Festival Organisation, organisers, volunteers and everyone who is taking part in the 19th Children’s Festival in Bankstown on Sunday 17 September 2017.

Since it was first established in 1999, the Children’s Festival continues to provide an opportunity for young children, their family and friends to come together and celebrate our diverse community by showcasing music, dancing, colourful costumes and vibrant foods from a range of cultures.

The Children’s Festival also reminds us that we should always strive to achieve peace and harmony within and between all cultures so that our children can live in a safe and prosperous community.

It also reminds us of the best opportunity we have to ensure the future success of our community, our children.

On behalf of the people of East Hills, I again congratulate and thank the Children’s Festival Organisation, its president, Mr Thuat V. Nguyen OAM, organisers and volunteers on their dedication and commitment to promoting and celebrating harmony in our multicultural community.

Best wishes to the Children’s Festival Organisation for another successful event.
