Sydney Childrens Festival 2019 Zoom

The Children’s Festival is a significant multicultural event in Australia.

It is unique in its celebration of cultural diversity with a spectacular day-long program of entertainment presented by over 30 groups from different cultural backgrounds. Thousands of children and their families participate in the day’s activities.

Under the motto “Play Together and Live in Harmony”, the Children’s Festival is a day for everyone but especially for children to get together in a multicultural environment to have fun, join in creative activities and share those new experiences with each other.

The year, 2020, marks the 22nd Anniversary of our organisation and we are anxiously looking forward to even greater success at this year’s events. Following our successful Children’s Festival in the City of Canterbury-Bankstown on Sunday 15th of September, 2019, our 36th Children’s Festival will be held on Sunday  5th of April, 2020 in First Fleet Park, The Rocks, Sydney and our 37th Children’s Festival will be held  on Sunday 23rd of August, 2020 in Koshigaya Park, Campbelltown.

We would like to invite your school/group to participate in this spectacular event, in particular to join in the Children’s Parade in First Fleet Park, Sydney at 1.30 pm and/or to perform on stage.

Dear Children’s Festival participants, volunteers and friends,
As you are aware the coronavirus outbreak has been declared a global pandemic. The problem is worsening with the passing of every single day.
The Children’s Festival Organisation (CFO) is closely monitoring the situation. What we have seen so far is that many events – big and small – are either postponed or cancelled altogether.
Our main concern is the safety and well-being of the participants of our event, the majority of whom are children. So far there is a fair number of participating groups informing us that they have decided to withdraw from performing at the Children’s Festival 2020 in Sydney due to concern about the virus. Also, the Prime Minister and state and territory leaders want all non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people to be suspended from Monday amid fears about the spread of coronavirus.
Under these circumstances, the CFO has decided that our Children’s Festival 2020 in Sydney is cancelled. This is a very difficult decision but we believe that this decision is made in the best interest of all involved.
We thank you for your continued support and are looking forward to your participation in our future festivals.
Best wishes,
Thuat V. Nguyen OAM
President, Children’s Festival Organisation Inc.
