RayWilliamsThe Hon. Ray Williams MP
Minister for Disability Services
Minister for Multiculturalism

Congratulations and welcome to everyone taking part in the Children’s Festival at First Fleet Park in Sydney.

Over the past 20 years, the Children’s Festival Organisation has run 29 successful festivals across several Sydney suburbs, giving generations of young people the chance to demonstrate pride in their culture and heritage.

By bringing people together in a fun family atmosphere, the festival showcases our wonderful diversity and helps us to build a more cohesive and harmonious society.

President Mr Thuat Van Nguyen OAM is to be congratulated on his vision for a better community, and thanks to all the hard-working volunteers for their efforts in staging an amazing multicultural festival.

I would like to extend my congratulations to the Children’s Festival Organisation on another successful year providing important social cohesion for our local community.

This organisation has had great success not only in our local community but across Sydney which is a fantastic success for its organisers.

I wish your organisation the very best as you forge a new chapter in providing fantastic opportunities for children across our diverse community.

Congratulations and best of luck to the Children’s Festival Organisation.

AlexGreenwichMr. Alex Greenwich MP, Member for Sydney

Congratulations to organisers of the Sydney Children’s Festival being held at First Fleet Park on Sunday 8 April.

The Sydney Children’s Festival is a practical approach to building a tolerant and inclusive society. I strongly support activities to build acceptance, diversity and inclusion, and share your goal of a welcoming and inclusive society. I’m proud to represent the tolerant and vibrant Sydney electorate where these values are strong.

The Children’s Festival can build cross-cultural connections and understanding. It can create dialogue that helps break down them-and-us barriers and prevent future conflict based on lack of knowledge and limited experience with others. This is becoming more vital at a time when there is an apparent increase in prejudice, fear of others and fear of difference.

The Sydney Children’s Festival is most welcome. I commend your efforts and wish you another successful Children’s Festival this year.

JihadDibMr. Jihad Dib MP, Member for Lakemba
Shadow Minister for Education

The Children’s Festival is a hallmark in the 2018 calendar as we celebrate the Festival’s 20th anniversary. I would like to extend my congratulations to all the organisers and volunteers who have worked hard to coordinate this great event year after year.

This year's theme is 'Celebrating Australia Together' which recognises and highlights our great diversity and multicultural Australia. As a regular attendee, I know this is always a great event that brings children together of all different backgrounds and provides them with a platform to showcase their talents and celebrate their differences. With talented performances, traditional foods, arts and craft and many stalls, it is a family fun day for all.

Thuat Van Nguyen OAM and the Children’s Festival Organisation have continuously contributed to our vibrant community through the Children’s Festival, and I thank them on behalf of the Lakemba Electorate for all of their dedication and hard work.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincerest congratulations for the 20th Anniversary of the Sydney Children’s Festival. I would like to thank the Children’s Festival Organisation for hosting me to celebrate with you.

I would also like to thank and acknowledge Mr Thuat V. Nguyen, President of the Children’s Festival Organisation, for extending the invitation for this spectacular event.

Today is a great chance for families and friends to gather and celebrate this significant multicultural event recognising the amazing cultural diversity that binds communities across NSW.

It will be an absolute pleasure to witness the non-stop entertainment of the over 30 groups performing, made up of school children, partaking in music, dancing, costumes and exciting outdoor games and activities.

I wish you all a very happy 20th Anniversary of the Children’s Festival and sincerely congratulate the Organisers for hosting such a fantastic event.

The Rocks, Sydney, is the perfect location for this event and I wish all those in attendance a great Children’s Festival.

Mr. Hakan Harman, Chief Executive Officer, Multicultural NSW

Multicultural NSW is delighted to send best wishes to children and parents taking part in the 20th annual Children’s Festival at The Rocks in April.

This has grown substantially from its beginnings, bringing generations of young people together to share their culture, heritage and arts.

We congratulate members and staff of the Children’s Festival Organisation for their dedication in promoting social harmony, focusing on future generations of leaders.

Over many years, President Mr Thuat Nguyen OAM has promoted our cohesive, multicultural way of life, and the Children’s Festival is an excellent community event that brings people together from many diverse backgrounds.

In New South Wales, we now speak 215 languages, come from 229 birthplaces and from 307 ancestries. Our children keep such traditions alive while forming the future of our peaceful multicultural society.

On behalf of the City of Sydney, I am delighted to welcome you to Children’s Festival 2018.

Now in its fifth year, the Children’s Festival is a fantastic example of a community-based event that celebrates cultural diversity. The City of Sydney is proud to support the festival as part of our annual Living in Harmony Festival program.

Sydney owes much of its identity and resilience to the cultural diversity of its communities, and I commend festival organisers for bringing together families from diverse cultural backgrounds in such a great setting. The festival is a fantastic way for people to share aspects of their own culture and learn interesting facts about different cultures.

I am sure everyone attending will enjoy the Children’s Parade, costume display, poster contest and under 5s corner, as well as all the other activities on offer, in the magnificent setting of First Fleet Park.

I hope everyone has a fantastic time at this year’s festival.

The Children’s Festival brings together culturally-diverse communities from across New South Wales to promote peace and harmony between different cultures and faiths. Year after year, it offers a wonderful opportunity for children and adults alike to share and learn more about the many cultures of those who call our nation home.

Scouts Australia NSW shares this commitment to diversity and inclusion, and is delighted to offer its ongoing support to the Children’s Festival, and its work in celebrating youth and multiculturalism.

On behalf of Scouts Australia NSW, I would like to congratulate the Children’s Festival organising committee and its team of staff and volunteers on their ongoing success. I wish everyone participating in the 30th Children’s Festival an enjoyable and memorable day.
